Yay! It's Christmas, and a really bright and sunny one at that =D What a great atmosphere!

Merry Christmas! I realise I didn't have anything red to take a photo of (cos I don't like red) so I took a photo of something pink instead. And cute. Introducing Strawberry Shortcake-san... sitting on the green couch that is supposed to be outdoors. It's ok, we're going to change our old couches very soon =D
Isn't it annoying when people blog about their (not so interesting) lives? It's almost like they're assuming other people will care. Which is why I don't use twitter. I know some people use twitter for more than just giving minute details about themselves, but that's what people use it for mainly, but today's Christmas special blog entry is going to be the very thing that annoys me, titled "What L did on 25 Dec 2010".

Let's see, starting from 10am. Woke up, fell asleep again and dreamt I was getting super super flushed and hot. Woke up and realised that I was really really flushed and hot (it was 26 degrees or something, but in my room? Must have been near 40 degrees). Got out of bed and made tea.
From Weeks 49-52 |
Drank tea. This is a Yabukita Japanese green tea, which tt got for my Kurisumasu purezento. Sankyuu!!
From Weeks 49-52 |
It's not really a tea for cold brewing though, because knowing how expensive it was, I was really stingy with it and put only one and a half tiny spoons of tealeaves into the pot, which made it rather weak. Cold brew made it lose its fragrance too, so I'll have to try it hot next time. T T I didn't waste it though! Had the whole pot today~

Oh wait, this was yesterday's turkey dinner...

And yesterday's Christmas pudding, getting lighted.

Before, with a moat of brandy.

After... um... if you can't see the blue flame around the pudding, you need glasses! Or stronger glasses! =P
Where was I... at 1pm, was hungry and had some random junk that was lying around the house. Was actually feeling like instant noodles, but I've been banned from it after eating it as my three meals a day, so... I think I just had some leftover rice, seaweed and miso soup. Instant.

From 2-3pm, my dad had the tv blasting downstairs, so I went up to my room, which was fast reaching the temperature of an oven roasting a duck, where I watched a couple of episodes of Tora Dora.
From Weeks 49-52 |
Headed down when it got insufferably hot. Pestered my dad to stop watching tv and come help me make tang yuan, which he refused (my dad dislikes sweet stuff), saying his usual line of "mo gao ngo la". I pestered my mum to help me and she said I gotta use the mince pork first.
From Weeks 49-52 |
I was going to make Ba Gua with that mince pork, so I thought what the heck, why not. I got all the ingredients needed for it a couple of days anyway!
It really requires only a few ingredients: fish sauce, rose wine, 5 spice powder, pepper, soy sauce, kecap manis, a massive amount of mince pork and a massive amount of sugar. Was given the recipe by a friend, but I gave up following the recipe at the second ingredient and just... "poured" "sprinkled" and "adjust to taste".
From Weeks 49-52 |
Stage 1 was to mix all ingredients. Stage 2 was to wait while it sits in the fridge (lucky thing), during which I brought my laptop downstairs to the cool dining room and watched Korean drama with my mum on the dining table. Stage 3: usually it should be rolled out into thin flat sheets and oven'd, but it was wayyy too hot to turn on the oven, so dad, being the wise oyaji that he is, suggested we pan-fried them.
From Weeks 49-52 |
Yup, a lot easier, and really, a lot quicker too, since it doesn't take long on the pan.

Stage 4: Grill. Check out the coals! I was in charge of smearing honey on them =D I have to say, recently I haven't really had the chance to bond with my parents at all, so standing next to him and playing with fire while cooking ba gua was great. Watching Korean dramas with my mum right next to me was also a nice chance of being together.
All this time, icie was out with his gf. I swear, he keeps ditching me for her these days!! (jk Madara, it's cool =P) Then when I was sitting with my mum watching Korean drama, with hair smelling like smoke and an oily face from the barbecue, he brought her back home to check out his room... D= talk about bringing an unexpected guest home, haha. Then my mum started poking me because she didn't catch her name and started going "is her name Ann? Is it Anne? Annie??" =_______= We refused to tell her a second time... merry Christmas Ann =P
Anyway, I digress.

Stage final: Make them disappear.
My dad was also barbecuing lamb cutlets outside, so we had that for dinner =D Along with sparkling juice (no wine for us) and more Korean drama, Christmas 2010 comes to an end.
Was supposed to go to a friend's house to crash, but had to cancel because my dad wanted to barbecue... sorry!! MERRY CHRISTMAS anyway! =D

Merry Christmas! Thanks for the present, shall enjoy reading it over many nights. The yabukita wasn't that expensive, don't be deceived by the fancy tin can =P

Do you have a bbq in your backyard? Anyway Merry Christmas! Hope to catch up soon!
That stove is my dad's pride, haha. He made it out of bricks and what not, and there's nothing he loves better than to sit outside with the cats and boil water using sticks and wood from our backyard.
Hope to see you soon too! =D
